BANGOR, Maine — Freshman Alli Bourget of Dover-Foxcroft had a goal and two assists Tuesday as Husson University defeated Clark University 3-1 in a non-conference field hockey match at the Winkin Complex.
The Eagles (7-3) outshot the Cougars 21-1 during the first half but managed just one goal as Bourget scored unassisted to give Husson a 1-0 lead with just under 10 minutes left in the half.
Husson’s offense picked up in the second half as senior Taylor Shaw scored her seventh goal of the season off of a Bourget pass. The Eagles made it 3-0 as senior Mikayla Toth collected her ninth career goal, again off a Bourget assist.
Clark (5-8) spoiled the Eagles shutout hopes in the 51st minute when sophomore Julia D’Antonio knocked in a goal off of a corner play.
Husson senior goalie Anne Marie Provencal made two saves in goal while Dani Michaud tallied 20 saves for Clark. Husson outshot the Cougars 43-4 overall and 23-3 in shots on goal.
Husson 2, Newbury 1 (OT)
At Brookline, Massachusetts, Husson University outlasted Newbury College in overtime.
Nick Whitehead scored the game-winner in the 95th minute off an assist from Josh Bellomo.
The Eagles outshot the Nighthawks 18-12 in the win. Nikoloz Bulashvilli made two saves for Husson, while Chris Tran made 13 saves for the Nighthawks.
Rod Ghanayem’s penalty kick in the 84th minute gave Husson (7-5) a 1-0 lead, but Nicholas Olivares-Thompson countered for Newbury (3-10) in the final minute of regulation play.
