Comedian John Hodgman’s new book, “Vacationland: True Stories from Painful Beaches,” which comes out on Oct. 24, is in large part about Maine. Hodgman and his family live in Brooklin for part of the year — something he documents colorfully on Instagram.

Hodgman appeared on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” on Wednesday to talk about said book, and his Maine experiences, including our painful beaches and frigid ocean that wants to kill you. He says the nickname “Vacationland” is a bit of a misnomer.
