HANOVER, New Hampshire — Five different players scored a goal Sunday afternoon as the University of Maine defeated Dartmouth College 5-3 in a field hockey match.
Samantha Wagg, Brianna Ricker, Brittany Smith, Madison Cummings and Emily Hindle all scored for the Black Bears. Emma Cochran made one save.
Katie Spanos paced Dartmouth with two goals while Carmen Braceras added another. Hailey Valerio came up with eight stops.
The Black Bears held significant advantages in shots (20-6) and penalty corners (10-2), but Dartmouth was offensively efficient. In the second half alone, Maine outshot Dartmouth by a 12-3 margin, but the Big Green scored twice, while the Black Bears converted three goals in the half.
Maine improved to 5-2 and Dartmouth slipped to 2-4.
Cornell 1, Maine 0
At Ithaca, New York, on Saturday, Kaili Gregory’s penalty kick proved to be the only scoring as Cornell (2-3-0) blanked UMaine (2-5-1).
Meaghan Kennedy had to make just one save for Cornell to get the shutout.
Annalena Kriebisch had eight saves for UMaine.
