PORTLAND, Maine — A Cumberland County Jail inmate walked off the job while on work release in downtown Portland Tuesday morning, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Larry Goodwin, 41, walked away from his work-release job on Portland’s eastern waterfront around 9:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Goodwin, of Seattle, Washington, is serving a nine-month sentence for cocaine possession, drunk driving and operating a vehicle after having his license suspended, the sheriff’s office said. He has been participating in the work-release program for two months and is scheduled to be released in February.

The sheriff’s office described Goodwin as a 5 feet, 9 inches tall, white man who weighs 260 pounds and has brown eyes and a short beard.

The sheriff’s office asked anyone with information about Goodwin’s whereabouts to call them at 207-744-1444 ext. 2105.
