MADAWASKA, Maine — A local man died Thursday from injuries he suffered when he was struck by a car while crossing Main Street downtown the previous afternoon.

According to the Madawaska Police Department, a 2002 Honda driven by 38-year-old Sesie Young of Madawaska struck Reginald Boucher, 88, shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Boucher was taken to Edmundston Regional Hospital in New Brunswick and later by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Boucher succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning, according to police.

Assisting at the accident scene were members of the Madawaska Ambulance Service, the Madawaska Fire Department and the Maine State Police.

The incident remains under investigation.
