POLAND, Maine — Authorities are investigating two different incidents at the Summit Spring Golf Course in Poland, including 20 golf carts that burned on Tuesday.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office received the call about the fire just before 2 a.m. A neighbor who heard a popping noise went to investigate and discovered the burning carts.

The golf course manager said the fire marshal told her the fire was deliberately set.

The damage adds up to about $22,000, the manager said.

The sheriff’s department said a separate burglary happened at the same course last month.

A storage building was broken into, items were stolen and six golf carts were driven around and damaged. One cart was still missing.

No one has been charged in the burglary.
