OLD TOWN — Penobscot/Piscataquis/Hancock Area Special Olympics will hold a benefit 5K road race at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Old Town/Orono YMCA in Old Town. The race is a fundraiser for the events that the area program puts on throughout the year. The race is being called Mickey’s 5K, commemorating Mickey Boutilier, the founder of Maine Special Olympics. Registration is $20, but will increase to $25 on Oct. 2. T-shirts are available for the first 75 registrants. Trophies will be awarded to the first-place male and females finishers, medals for the top two male and female runners in various age groups.
