BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor man who suffered serious injuries in a fatal speedboat crash in Massachusetts on Saturday remained in critical condition Wednesday at a Rhode Island hospital.
Stephen Joy, 67, was competing in the Bill Giles Memorial Regatta on a pond in Taunton, Massachusetts, when his speedboat collided with two others, according to published reports. All three drivers were ejected into the water.
Joy was listed in critical condition Wednesday at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Mark Greene, 39, of Moultonborough, New Hampshire, was killed in the crash. The third boater involved in the collision, 72-year-old Alex Poliakoff of Richmond, Maine, suffered minor injuries.
