PORTLAND, Maine — A fire damaged a Portland business and displaced several people late Sunday night.
Fire crews arrived at Moran’s Market on Forest Avenue shortly after 11:30 p.m. after a fire was reported there. The market was not open at the time, but four apartments above it were evacuated, according to the Portland Fire Department.
Officials said that about 10 people live in the apartments above Moran’s Market. The apartments were not significantly damaged in the blaze, but they will require cleaning due to minor smoke damage. Tenants were expected to be able to return to the apartments soon.
Moran’s Market, however, sustained significant damage from the fire, according to David Petrucelli of the Portland Fire Department.
No cause has been identified, and the fire remains under investigation.
No one was injured in fire.
