APPLETON, Maine — An Appleton man is behind bars, accused of firing off a gun in his neighborhood.

Lance Huff, 40, was arrested and charged with felony reckless conduct with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person due to being convicted of a previous felony, Class D terrorizing, and a misdemeanor charge of discharge of a firearm within 300 feet of a residence, according to a news release from Knox County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Tim Carroll.

Deputies responded to a call shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday regarding a neighbor allegedly on Fishtown Road firing his gun off the deck of a residence.

According to witnesses, this wasn’t the first time the suspect had done this.

Carroll identified the shooter as Huff.

Huff allegedly admitted he was intoxicated but denied shooting a gun.

Based on witness statements and evidence gathered after deputies obtained a search warrant for the residence, Huff was arrested.

He remains at Knox County Jail in Rockland with a $5,000 cash bail.
