FORT KENT, Maine — A local man whose family reported him missing Wednesday is back home.
John Philip Sylvain, 59, left his South Perley Brook Road residence on foot Wednesday morning and when he did not return home, a concerned relative contacted the Fort Kent Police Department.
Officers with the Fort Kent Police Department and the Maine Warden Service searched for Sylvain throughout the afternoon and evening, including with a warden service plane, but were unable to locate him.
Then, Sylvain returned to his home shortly after midnight, Fort Kent Police Chief Tom Pelletier said Thursday morning.
Sylvain suffers from depression, said Pelletier, who expressed relief that the man returned home unharmed.
“The family was happy and we were very joyful as well,” the chief said.
