AUGUSTA, Maine — The Coffee News Comrades of Bangor suffered their first loss in the American Legion baseball state tourney Saturday but will still play for its third straight title on Sunday.

Bangor entered the fourth day of the tourney on Saturday as the only remaining unbeaten team with a 3-0 mark while the other three teams, Rogers Post of Auburn, Skowhegan and Yankee Ford of South Portland, each had 2-1 records.

Rogers Post eliminated Skowhegan 6-3 in Saturday’s first game and then Yankee Ford handed Bangor its first loss, 9-7, in the second game.

Rogers Post will now battle Yankee Ford at noon Sunday and the winner will take on Bangor at 3:30 p.m. in the championship contest. Both games are at Morton Field.

The state champ advances to Northeast Regional on Aug. 3-8 in Bristol, Connecticut.
