MILBRIDGE, Maine — A Steuben man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly attacking another man with a “blackjack” type weapon.

Timothy Mclain, 46, was charged with aggravated assault. He was taken to Washington County Jail and released the following day on $350 cash bail, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said the county communications center received a call at about 7:35 p.m. Wednesday from a motorist in the Steuben area who said he was being chased by other motor vehicles. The motorist told dispatchers he believed the intent of the occupants of the other vehicles was to assault him. Police said several other calls came in concerning this incident and a crowd gathered at the Gulf station in Milbridge.

Sheriff’s deputies and police officers from Gouldsboro and Milbridge found the victim with a head wound.

Police seized several weapons at the scene, including a baseball bat, a can of pepper spray and a firearm.

Police are still investigating the incident, and more arrests and charges are possible, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
