NEWBURGH, Maine — Town Clerk Gina Belcher and her husband, Selectman Leonard “Buddy” Belcher, have resigned their respective positions, Town Manager Cynthia Grant confirmed Monday.
The Belchers resigned their posts on June 13, Grant said. She declined, however, to provide copies of their resignation letters.
Grant said Monday that the town has not yet formulated a plan for filling the vacancies.
Leonard Belcher was one of two selectmen who abruptly quit their posts in March 2011, leaving the town with only one selectman.
Those two resignations came after a core member of a local watchdog group called the “Fixers” was elected to the three-member board.
It was not immediately clear Monday when Belcher was re-elected to the board.
