ELLSWORTH, Maine — A total of six people involved in two significant drug busts last December were indicted June 9 by the Hancock County grand jury.

Also indicted was a Boston man accused of robbing a Bucksport convenience store last month and two men accused of being involved in multiple residential break-ins last fall on Sutton Island.

In what police described as one of the “most significant” heroin busts ever in Maine, Hyacinthe Baril, 35, and Paul Chiumiento, 32, both of Orland, and Aaron Carter, 40, of Sedgwick were arrested Dec. 21, 2015, after police seized 400 grams of heroin, 22 pounds of marijuana, 750 oxycodone pills, $40,000 cash, two vehicles and more than a dozen firearms during a raid of a Chiumiento and Baril’s Orland apartment.

The heroin alone was estimated to carry a street value of $100,000, the marijuana was valued at $33,000, and the oxycodone was valued at $20,000, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officials said at the time.

Baril and Chiumiento each were indicted on charges of two counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, two felony counts of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, two misdemeanor counts of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and six counts of criminal forfeiture. Baril also was indicted on a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution, and Chiumiento was indicted on an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Carter was indicted on charges of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and conspiracy to commit trafficking in scheduled drugs.

In a Dec. 28 drug bust in Deer Isle, the MDEA seized 150 grams of crack cocaine, $9,000 cash and arrested Barry Glover, 19, of New York City and Shannon Gray, 32, and Michael Brown, 39, both of Deer Isle. The seized cocaine had an estimated street value of $25,000, police said.

Brown, Glover and Gray were indicted last week on one charge each of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs and of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs. Glover also was indicted on a charge of criminal forfeiture.

Justin Horton, 29, of Blue Hill was indicted on charges of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, illegal importation of scheduled drugs, criminal forfeiture and unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs after being arrested in Bucksport with 100 grams of heroin on Nov. 21, 2015.

The aggravated drug trafficking charges that Baril, Brown, Chiumiento, Glover, Gray and Horton are facing are Class A felonies, each count of which is punishable with a conviction by up to 30 years in prison and up to a $50,000 fine.

Adam S. Kasevich, 25, of Boston was indicted on charges of robbery and theft. Kasevich is accused of robbing the Circle K store on Main Street in Bucksport on the evening of May 15

Michael Philippon, 23, Bangor and Sammuel A. Larrabee, 18, of Ellsworth each were indicted on a charge of criminal mischief and on multiple charges of burglary, criminal trespass and theft. The pair allegedly vandalized and stole food from seasonal homes on Sutton Island in the town of Cranberry Isles last fall.

Philippon’s alleged criminal behavior came to the attention of police after he posted photos he took inside one victim’s house to his Instagram account, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.

Roger A. Grego, 28, Stonington, unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs.
