EDDINGTON, Maine — There are two seats up for grabs on the Board of Selectmen and more than half a dozen people are running to fill them, Town Manager Russell Smith said Wednesday.

“We have seven people running for two open posts,” Smith said.

Incumbent Charles Baker Jr. has decided not to run for his seat, but incumbent Peter Lyford has thrown his hat in the ring along with residents Deana Doughty, Shaun Goodwin, Joseph Powell, Herbert “Rusty” Robertson Jr., James White and Ray Wood Jr.

School board incumbent Rusty Gagnon is the lone person running for the one open RSU 63 seat.

A Meet the Candidates night is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the Eddington Municipal Building, and the polls are open for municipal and state elections 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14.
