MANCHESTER, New Hampshire — One swing was the difference as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeated the Portland Sea Dogs 2-1 in their Eastern League series finale on Wednesday afternoon at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

New Hampshire (14-17) closed out the three-game sweep, its first three-game home sweep over Portland since 2013.

The ‘Cats won the game in the seventh inning. After a one-out walk drawn by Ian Parmley, Derrick Loveless hit a two-run homer off Luis Ysla (1-1) to right-center field for the game-winner. It was Loveless’ first career Double-A hit.

The Sea Dogs (10-23) got on the scoreboard first. After singles by Ryan Court and Jake Romanski, Tim Roberson delivered a two-out, RBI single.

Aaron Wilkerson preserved the lead through the sixth, working his fourth scoreless outing in seven starts this year at Double-A. He allowed just four hits in six innings while walking three and striking out five.

Shane Dawson allowed one earned run on seven hits in five innings for New Hampshire, walking three and striking out three. Brady Dragmire (1-2) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief. Murphy Smith pitched a perfect eighth and Wil Browning picked up his fifth save.

The Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. to begin a seven-game homestand against Binghamton and New Hampshire.
