WELLS, Maine — A brush fire in York County on Thursday disrupted travel on Amtrak’s Downeaster.

A brush fire near the railroad tracks delayed two southbound trains and two northbound trains, according to Amtrak.

Southbound trains 684 and 686 were delayed more than an hour, as were northbound trains 683 and 687, according to Amtrak.

Dry conditions throughout the state Thursday kept firefighters busy with wildfires, according to the Maine Forest Rangers.

Fire danger Friday remained at a Class 3 level, according to the Forest Rangers.

In spite of the danger being at a Class 3 level, Friday was a quiet day as far as brush fires being reported according to Gregg Hesslein, a Maine Forest Rangers spokesman.
