PORTLAND, Maine — Jordan Betts drilled a double to the gap in right-center field to score Jake Romanski in the bottom of the ninth inning on Wednesday afternoon, lifting the Portland Sea Dogs to a 1-0 Eastern League victory over Trenton in front of 5,033 fans at Hadlock Field.

Betts’ picked up his fourth RBI of the season for the Sea Dogs (6-8), who went 3-4 on the homestand.

Luis Ysla (W, 1-0) earned his first career Double-A win with a scoreless, hitless ninth inning. He was forced to work around two walks and did so but inducing a 5-4-3 double play.

He combined on the shutout with starter Teddy Stankiewicz, who allowed four hits and struck out six in six innings, and Williams Jerez, who gave up two hits and struck out two in two innings.

Trenton starter Daniel Camarena gave up two hits with three strikeouts in four innings and Matt Wotherspoon worked three hitless innings and fanned one. Matt Tracy (1-1) took the loss for the Thunder, who fell to 7-6.

The Sea Dogs have Thursday off, then begin a four-game series with the Hartford Yard Goats at Hadlock Field, where Hartford will be the home team, due to their home ballpark still being under construction.
