BAR HARBOR, Maine — Bar Harbor police are investigating a deadly crash in which a pickup truck driver died, police said Sunday in a news release.

The name of the deceased person was being withheld pending a positive identification.

The crash happened about 1:45 a.m. Sunday on Gilbert Farm Road, when a 2000 Ford pickup traveling east left the roadway and struck a large group of trees.

As a result of the crash, the pickup caught fire. A single occupant was located inside the vehicle, in the driver’s seat.

The crash remains under investigation. The medical examiner’s office has been asked to identify the driver.

The Bar Harbor Police Department was assisted by the Mount Desert and Ellsworth police departments, the Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Fire Department and the state fire marshal’s office.
