WESTBROOK, Maine — The body of a local man reported missing by his family late last week was found in the Presumpscot River late Sunday morning, Westbrook police Sgt. Timothy Morrell said Sunday afternoon in a news release.

Richard “T.J.” Goff, 44, was found about 11:45 a.m., Morrell said.

The cause of death was not yet clear, Morrell said, adding that Goff’s body would be taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta for further examination.

Goff was reported missing by his family last week after he failed to show up for a meeting and another appointment, according to a news release issued Saturday by the Westbrook Police Department.

The Maine Warden Service assisted in the investigation.
