Game notes: The Black Bears go after a 15th straight home victory, and their third overall, against the Hawks. The teams meet for the first time since Hartford ousted UMaine in the AE semifinals last season. The Black Bears have received a boost of late from Wood, who has regained her offensive mojo in two dominating performances against New Hampshire and Stony Brook, including Saturday’s 55-52 win over the Seawolves. Defense-minded Hartford has won two in a row and three of its last four, including Sunday’s 48-44 decision against UNH. UMaine ranks 12th in Division I, allowing only 52.3 ppg, and shoots 43 percent overall. The Hawks give up 59.1 ppg, but are last in AE scoring defense (50.2 ppg) and FG percentage defense (.340).

Records: Maine 6-13 (2-4 America East), Hartford 7-14 (2-4)

Series, last meeting: Hartford leads 39-29, Hartford 63-60 on 2/25/15

Key players: Maine — 6-7 F Issac Vann (14.9 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, .556 3-pt. Game notes: Coach Bob Walsh’s Black Bears look to bounce back after their second straight loss, Monday’s storm-postponed 81-54 setback at Stony Brook. The Seawolves shot 61 percent from the field in that game. UMaine is only 2-9 on the road this season. Hartford has lost three of its last four, including Sunday’s 84-71 defeat at UNH in which Thomas poured in 38 points on 12-for-17 shooting. Neither team has distinguished itself defensively, so this could be another high-scoring affair. UMaine will have to minimize turnovers, have a strong effort on the boards, hit open 3’s and make foul shots to help neutralize Hartford’s league-best 9.2 3-pointers per game and its good free-throw shooting (.730).
