ROCKLAND, Maine — The McDonald’s Restaurant in Rockland was evacuated Tuesday evening as management and police searched for a potential bomb after a threat was made by phone.

Rockland police reported that a man called shortly after 6 p.m. to say that an explosive device was inside the building and would go off in an hour.

Customers were evacuated and Rockland police posted vehicles at both the Camden Street and Maverick Street entrances to prevent people from going into the parking lot.

By 7 p.m., no device had been found.
