Game notes: The Black Bears begin the second semester with a conference road contest against their archrivals. UMaine dropped a 61-56 decision at Albany on Saturday. The Wildcats are mired in an eight-game losing streak, including Saturday’s 63-54 loss at Stony Brook. UNH spoiled UMaine’s perfect regular season AE record a year ago in Durham. The Black Bears continue to build around their stingy defense, which will be challenged by UNH’s frontcourt height. UMaine must not put the Wildcats and their league-leading free-throw shooting (.749), led by Belanger (.872), to the test. The Bears will try to shut off Belanger’s penetration with their matchup zone.
