WALDOBORO, Maine — A local man is facing a child pornography charge after being arrested at his home Thursday, state police said.

Joel Harkins, 35, allegedly had hundreds of photos and videos of child pornography on his computer, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

Harkins’ computer will be analyzed by the state police computer crimes unit, McCausland said.

Harkins is facing a charge of possession of sexually explicit materials of somebody under the age of 12 and was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 25.
