LEWISTON, Maine — A city man has been reported missing, and police believe he may be as far west as Ohio.

James Ross Allen, 18, apparently emptied his bank account Friday and spent $253 on a bus ticket to North Hollywood, California, according to Lewiston police Detective Corey Jacques.

Jacques said Allen had $260 in his account when he emptied it.

Allen, who is autistic, was reported missing by his father Monday, according to Jacques. Allen apparently boarded a Greyhound bus in Lewiston on Sunday.

Jacques said Allen’s itinerary would have had him arriving in Toledo, Ohio, on Monday, but he was not on the bus when it arrived in that city.

Jacques noted Allen’s father said his son “has never done anything like this.” Allen attends the Margaret Murray School in Auburn.

Allen is described as tall and lanky, at 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds, the detective said. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue or green jacket. He may be carrying a small backpack.

Anybody who knows where Allen is should call their local police department or Lewiston police at 531-3001 ext. 3320.
