Police outside the scene of a triple shooting in Oakland, Maine, late Wednesday night, Nov. 4, 2015.

Maine State Police say three people were shot and killed at a home in Oakland late Wednesday night. The gunman, identified as 42-year-old Herman Derico, was said to have taken his life. A 4-year-old child at the scene on Belgrade Road was left unharmed.

The victims have been identified by police as Amanda Bragg, 30, Amy Derosby, 28, and Michael Muzerolle, 28. Police have declined to offer theories on motive but did say the four — including the alleged gunman — all lived together in the Belgrade Road home.

The bodies of the three adults were found inside, while the body of the alleged killer was found outside, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety. The 4-year-old is safe with relatives, he said. The child is the daughter of Bragg and Muzerolle.

Reports of an emergency at the home were received around 8 p.m. Wednesday, including a 911 call from one of the victims. Police from Oakland and the surrounding towns converged on the home and found the bodies.

Autopsies will be conducted today, and police remained on the scene early Thursday morning, collecting evidence and continuing their investigation.
