SANFORD, Maine — A man made off with cigarettes and cash after a Sunday evening robbery at the 7-Eleven in Springvale.

According to Detective Sgt. Matthew Jones, a Hispanic man entered the convenience store at 6:26 p.m., asked for two packs of cigarettes and then demanded cash. He then fled on foot with an unspecified amount of money.

A police K9 search of the area was unsuccessful in finding the suspect, Jones said.

The detective said the suspect is between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He also has a star tattoo on his neck.

At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt, with a red shirt underneath, blue jeans and black sneakers with white laces, Jones said.

The investigation is ongoing, he said.
