SKOWHEGAN, Maine — A local woman was killed on Sunday after being struck by a vehicle on Madison Avenue, according to police.

Kathy Barker, 51, apparently walked into Madison Avenue traffic and was struck by a pickup driven by Jason Carrigan, 37, whose hometown was not available, according to Skowhegan police Chief Don Bolduc.

Barker was brought to Redington Fairview General Hospital, where she later died from her injuries, according to Bolduc.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the accident, which remains under investigation, Bolduc said.

No charges have been filed.
