The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two home break-ins that occurred Wednesday.
These break-ins were reported on the same day that two Union businesses were broken into, with cash taken in each burglary.
The first residential burglary was reported shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. About 20 Harry Potter DVDs and about $100 in change from a jar were reported stolen from a home on the Hatchet Mountain Road, according to police.
Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison urges anyone who notices someone with an unusually large amount of coins to report it to the department.
The second burglary on Augusta Road in Washington was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Between $100 and $150 and several bottles of soda were reported taken.
Dennison said the Washington burglary is believed to be related to the two Union business burglaries that were reported earlier Wednesday. She did not specify what led police to connect the burglaries.
Between 2 and 4 a.m., the Union True Value and Come Spring Cafe were the target of burglaries, the sheriff’s office reported in a news release.
