BREWER, Maine — Crews were able to quickly extinguish a fire Thursday afternoon at a two-unit apartment building on Washington Street.

Firefighters from Brewer and Bangor were dispatched shortly after 2:30 p.m., according to Brewer Deputy Chief Ralph Cammack, and arrived to find fire on the porch and roof.

For the most part, crews were able to keep the flames to the exterior of the building, Cammack said. Crews were able to get the fire under control within a few minutes.

Cammack said the damage was mostly contained to the exterior, save for minor smoke and water damage inside. He added that the tenants, who weren’t home, will likely be able to stay in the unit Thursday night.

No injuries were reported, and a cause has not been determined.
