BREWER, Maine — Local police are investigating the death of a woman at a Union Street apartment early Wednesday morning.
Brewer Deputy Chief Jason Moffitt said the woman, Shayna Pelkey, 25, of Greenbush, was found unresponsive around 12:50 a.m.
Moffitt said police administered CPR but that and other efforts to revive her by fire and rescue personnel were not successful.
Foul play is not believed to be involved and Pelkey’s death is being investigated as a possible drug overdose, according to Moffitt.
Investigators are awaiting toxicology results to determine a cause of death. State police detectives also responded.
