DURHAM, Maine — The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office on Monday identified the woman killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday night as 52-year-old Beth L. Woodmancy of Brunswick.

Woodmancy was driving north on Route 125 near Meadow Road at approximately 7:10 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a curve, left the west side of the road and struck a utility pole, according to a release from Chief Deputy William Gagne.

Woodmancy was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene, according to the release.

Officials said speed may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call Sgt. Rielly Bryant at 753-2599.

The crash was one of six highway deaths in the state over the weekend, four of which involved motorcycles. Other fatal crashes were reported in Buckfield, Fort Kent, Enfield, New Sharon and Southwest Harbor.
