Fire destroyed an abandoned Boothbay Harbor home early Tuesday morning.

BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine — Fire destroyed a vacant home at 69 Middle Road in the early hours Tuesday.

Boothbay Harbor Fire Chief Nick Upham said the fire was reported at 3:45 a.m. and was “fully involved” when the Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor and Southport fire departments arrived at the scene.

“The whole building is a total loss,” Upham said.

The fire was under investigation, and the cause had yet to be confirmed. As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, there were no reports of injuries or of anyone inside the structure when the fire started.

Upham said it was unclear who owned the building because it was for sale and has been vacant for the past two years.
