BANGOR — The Bangor Band will present a special holiday concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 4, in Pickering Square in downtown Bangor. The Bangor Band  is conducted by Curvin Farnham.

This concert will be co-sponsored by the Bangor law firm Gross, Minsky and Mogul and by Marine Corps veteran Dan Morrison.

Morrison is a recently retired employee of Bangor Parks and Recreation, who has spent countless hours over the years, helping Bangor Band members haul heavy percussion equipment and chairs up and down the stairs and onto vehicles. He is co-sponsoring this July 4th concert to help honor local military veterans.

The band will perform in its Blue Clamphitheatre concert shell at Pickering. Concert goers are asked to bring chairs or blankets.

Admission to the concert is free, although donations are accepted.

In the event of rain, the concert will be relocated to Peakes Auditorium at Bangor High School. Go to bangorband.org for updated scheduling and weather logistics.

Founded in 1859, the Bangor Band is one of the oldest continuous community bands

in the United States.
