BREWER, Maine — Firefighters were able to quickly knock down a vehicle fire at a South Brewer Drive residence on Tuesday morning, according to officials.

The fire was reported around 9:30, according to Brewer Fire Lt. Erik Tourtillotte.

The vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, was ablaze when firefighters arrived, Tourtillotte said. The house was not affected, save for minor damage to the porch, the lieutenant said.

The fire was knocked down within a couple of minutes of crews arriving and no injuries were reported, according to Tourtillotte. Firefighters from Brewer and Orrington responded.

An Emera Maine crew also responded for precautionary measures due to power lines being directly above the vehicle, Tourtillotte said.

The state fire marshal’s office has been called in to investigate.
