VEAZIE, Maine — A 24-year-old Bangor woman reported missing by her sisters earlier this month has been located safe in Orland, according to Veazie Police Chief Mark Leonard.

The mother of Alexis Merritt contacted police earlier Wednesday morning notifying them that she had heard from her daughter and she is in Orland, according to Leonard.

Merritt is described as a transient.

Merritt’s sisters, Amy Gardner and Trinity Merritt, reported her missing on June 2 after she had not been heard from since a May 29 Facebook post.

Leonard said he did not speak with Merritt directly so he wasn’t sure if she knew the public was aware she had been reported missing.
