ORRINGTON, Maine — Commuter traffic was snarled Friday morning by a rear-end collision on Route 15, according to police.

The crash, which involved two vehicles, was reported shortly after 8 a.m. just south of the intersection with Snow’s Corner Road, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy Stephen Boyd said.

Both vehicles were traveling towards Brewer, and the collision happened when one vehicle stopped to make a left-hand turn into a driveway and the vehicle behind it apparently did not stop in time, according to Boyd.

The names of the drivers were not disclosed but neither was seriously injured, the deputy said.

Traffic on Route 15 was detoured via Snow’s Corner Road and Center Drive while crews worked at the scene, but the road has since reopened.

Both vehicles were demolished.
