CARTHAGE, Maine — A local man on bail conditions for a previous drug arrest is back behind bars after a traffic stop led to numerous amounts of contraband, according to a state police statement.
John Ellis, 68, had been pulled over by Trooper Randy Hall on the Coburn Road for a traffic violation when the trooper asked to follow Ellis back to residence to make sure he was complying with his bail conditions, according to the statement.
Inside an ammunition can at the residence, the trooper found 97.6 grams of cocaine, digital scales with white powder residue, five crack pipes and other drug paraphernalia.
In addition to the drugs, police also seized $3,481 in cash.
Police arrested Ellis on a Class B felony count of drug trafficking and violation of bail, a Class C felony. He is being held without bail at the Franklin County Jail.
