Warning: The following article may leave you singing Disney songs for days.

As snow and wind swirls outside, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra is looking for a way to not only draw youngers, but give audience members a chance to “let it go.”

This Saturday, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra will present “Disney in Concert: Tale As Old As Time,” with songs from classic movies like “The Little Mermaid” and new hits like “Frozen.” The performance at the Collins Center for the Arts will include a full orchestra, four guest vocalists and a screen showing film sequences from the songs being performed.

BSO music director and conductor Lucas Richman will lead the performance, joined by vocalists Andrea Ross, Stephanie Burkett Gerson, Kyle Eberlein and Nathan Andrew Riley.

Brian Hinrichs, the BSO’s executive director, said this is the first time the organization has brought a multimedia-type of show to a Bangor-area stage.

“It’s something that’s becoming increasingly easier to do with the advent of new technology … and it’s something that we’ve seen done in other places with great success,” he said. “When you’re hearing the ‘Frozen’ medley, those scenes will be playing, making it a really fun multimedia experience.”

The show is also a way to combat what some may call “a tale as old as time.”

Youngsters flock to the BSO’s annual Nutcracker performance each December, but are missing from many of the other shows throughout the year. Hinrichs said he hopes including Disney songs that both children and their parents recognize will give families a chance to enjoy the symphony together.

“We’ve really been trying to appeal to families and people of all ages,” Hinrichs said. “This type of performance makes the symphony much more accessible.”

Saturday’s performance is scheduled to start at 3 p.m., but doors and an accompanying photo booth will open at 1:30 p.m. Tickets range from $18-$51 and are still available online or at the door.
