SANFORD, Maine — A man charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl was a bus monitor.
Twenty-three-year-old Kyle Matthews of Sanford is accused of sexually abusing the girl more than once at his in-laws’ home.
Steve Connolly, the superintendent at Maine School Administrative District 60, now says that Matthews was a bus monitor for his district and that school officials have since fired him.
The superintendent also says that Matthews was never alone with any children during his time working for the district, and never had the opportunity to be. Connolly says Matthews’ pre-employment background check showed he had no criminal history.
MSAD 60 includes the towns of Berwick, South Berwick and Lebanon.
