BIDDEFORD, Maine — A local man recently indicted on a manslaughter charge is also facing a robbery charge in an armed holdup of an Arundel convenience store last fall.

Shane Jones, 26, who is currently being held at the York County Jail, was formally charged with Class A felony robbery on Jan. 23, York County Sheriff William King said.

Jones was indicted by a York County grand jury on a manslaughter charge after running down and killing his mother last November.

The robbery Jones is charged with occurred on Nov. 7, just weeks before the running down of his mother.

Jones had entered the Big Apple on Portland Road wearing a mask, displaying a firearm and demanding cash, police said, and he got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Jones’ criminal history includes a 2007 arrest with his mother in a string of vehicle burglaries, and later that year, he was mistakenly released from the York County Jail after masquerading as someone else. He was quickly arrested and charged with escape and aggravated forgery.
