JEFFERSON, Maine — A Somerset County Corrections prisoner transport van went off the road and through a snowbank Monday in Jefferson, but no one was injured and the van had no reportable damage, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Lt. Rand Maker.

The van was on its way to the Maine State Prison in Warren with prisoners on board when it went off the southbound side of Route 32 in Jefferson, Maker said.

Deputy Kevin Dennison of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded, but did not take down the operator’s information because it was not a reportable accident, according to Maker.

The state sent a van to pick up the prisoners from the scene, Maker said.
