WELLS, Maine — Police recovered the body of a Kennebunk woman in Wells Harbor near Drakes Island on Thursday evening, Wells Police Department Sgt. Kevin Chabot said in a news release.
Kathryn Ryan, 61, of Kennebunk had been missing since Monday afternoon, Chabot said.
Her car was found in a parking lot on Drakes Island on Wednesday, according to earlier media reports.
Around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Wells police, with assistance from the Wells harbor master, found and removed Ryan from the water, Chabot said.
Her death was deemed not suspicious after an investigation conducted by the Wells and Kennebunk police departments, Chabot said, but details were not forthcoming Thursday night.
The Maine medical examiner’s office is working with local police to determine an exact cause of death, Chabot said.
The Maine Marine Patrol assisted the Wells and Kennebunk police departments with the investigation.
