AUGUSTA, Maine — A man police had been seeking in connection with a Christmas Eve burglary at Damon’s Beverage Barn turned himself in Friday.

Justin Murphy, 26, of Augusta has been charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief following his arrest, Augusta Police Lt. Christopher Massey said.

Murphy also had an outstanding warrant for failing to pay fines on a prior criminal mischief charge, according to Massey.

The lieutenant said Murphy turned himself in after seeing reports of the burglary circulate through local media outlets. He was cooperative with police.

The burglary was reported on Christmas Day and Justin Murphy’s uncle, Anthony Murphy, 45, of Augusta, was arrested on Dec. 30. Anthony is facing the same charges as Justin.

Justin Murphy’s bail was set at $20,000 at the Kennebec County Jail.
