AUGUSTA, Maine — One man has been arrested and police are seeking another in connection with a burglary of Damon’s Beverage Barn on Christmas Eve.

One man, Anthony Murphy, 45, of Augusta, was taken into custody on Tuesday, while the other suspect, Justin Murphy, 26, of Augusta, Anthony’s nephew, remains at large, according to Augusta Deputy Chief Jared Mills.

The burglary was reported on Christmas Day, and the suspects were identified based on evidence, Mills said.

On Tuesday, a search warrant was obtained for a Fowler Street residence the suspects had been staying at, and property associated with the burglary was found, Mills said.

Anthony Murphy, who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on an unrelated charge, was taken into custody and charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft and probation revocation, Mills said.

Justin Murphy, also has a warrant out for his arrest, according to Mills, but has not been located. Anybody who knows his whereabouts should call Augusta police or their local police department.

Bail for Anthony Murphy was set at $5,000.
