OLD TOWN, Maine — Two people escaped serious injury Wednesday morning when a car hit a truck on Kirkland Road, according to police.

According to Old Town police Officer Debra Holmes, the sun was in the driver’s eyes. The crash was reported shortly after 8 a.m.

“They weren’t able to see the truck in the roadway and struck it,” Holmes said.

The truck was parked on the side of the road at the time of the accident, according to Holmes.

Two people were transported to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, Holmes said. Their names were not immediately available.

Old Town police and fire were assisted by the Orono Fire Department at the scene.
