DEDHAM, Maine —Three men escaped major injury Wednesday morning in an accident involving three vehicles on Route 1A, according to officials.

The crash occurred near the Lucerne Inn around 9:30 a.m., Dedham Fire Chief Craig Shane said at the scene.

Later Wednesday, Chief Deputy Richard Bishop of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said a white GMC pickup driven by Joshua Somers, 23, of Guilford, was traveling north when he apparently crossed the center line.

Somers’ truck glanced off a van operated by Mark Quigley, 54, of Levant, and Somers’ vehicle subsequently struck a second pickup driven by Paul Winkler, 59, of Bangor, according to Bishop.

Quigley and Winkler were both traveling south while Somers was heading north, according to Bishop.

All three suffered minor injuries and nobody required transport to the hospital, the chief deputy said.

The road was reduced to one lane while the scene was cleaned up.
