BANGOR, Maine — A cat was shot by a blow dart on lower Essex Street on Friday, and police are searching for the person responsible.

Sgt. Tim Cotton said a woman came home Friday night to find her cat, Lilly, with a blow dart in her hindquarters. The sergeant said officers were called late Friday afternoon.

The sergeant said the owner pulled the dart from the cat, which Cotton said is doing fine.

Police are looking for the person or persons who shot the blow dart at the cat, and are asking anyone who may have seen someone carrying or using a blow-dart gun or another device that shoots darts to contact Bangor police at 947-7384 and ask for Officer Kyle Pelkey or Animal Control Officer Trish Bruen.
