Train accident in Portland

PORTLAND, Maine — Forest Avenue in Portland was closed for several hours early Monday morning because of a train accident near Woodford’s Corner.

A Pan Am train was stopped on Saunders Street, which is just off Forest Avenue at Ocean Avenue. The train appears to have been traveling south into Portland when some sort of incident occurred that required it to stop on the tracks.

Police have not said why the train is stopped.

Forest Avenue and Saunders Street are back open to traffic.
